The World of Hyatt Credit Card is praised for its solid redemption options and premium benefits, making it a favorite loyalty program. Despite not having the same level of benefits as more high-end hotel cards, its perks easily justify the reasonable $95 annual fee. A recommended credit score above 670 is advised for applicants.

The cardholder also has options like Points + Cash awards, upgrading paid stays, and transferring points to airline partners.

The annual fee is justified through benefits like an annual free-night certificate for Category 1-4 Hyatt properties and automatic Discoverist status, providing perks like late checkout and room preferences. The card's travel protections, including baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, and trip interruption/cancellation insurance, add value beyond the annual fee.

Pros & Cons

Let’s take a closer look at the pros and cons of the World of Hyatt Credit Card:

Pros
Cons
One Free Night Every Year
Better For Off Season
No Foreign Transaction Fees
Limited Bonus Categories
Travel Protections
Limited Redemption Partners
Redemption Options
Lower Airline Transfer Ratio
Discoverist Elite Status

Along with all the other hotel perks, you get one free night in a hotel every year that you own the card. You can use this night on its own or you can combine it with other hotel stays to get an extended vacation.

You can also use the free night at a fancy hotel that you normally might be able to afford.

The card does not charge foreign transaction fees, making it a suitable choice for international travelers.

Issued by Chase, the card provides valuable travel protections including baggage delay insurance, lost luggage reimbursement, and trip interruption/cancellation insurance.

Points can be redeemed for award nights, Points + Cash awards, and room upgrades, providing flexibility for different travel preferences.

Automatic Discoverist status is granted, offering benefits like late checkout, preferred rooms, and a 10% points bonus on eligible purchases.

World Of Hyatt points are among the highest value compared to other hotel brands with about 2.1 per point. For example, Hilton honors points worth around 0.6 cent and Marriot Bonvoy points worth 0.8 cent per point on average.

World Of Hyatt also follow the peak award pricing system, so some nights will be much more expensive than others.

If you are traveling during the holidays or another popular vacation time of the year, you might not find good deals. Even though you have the rewards card, you might be paying the same prices as everyone else.

While the card offers high points for Hyatt stays, other general travel purchases may earn more rewards with alternative cards like Chase Sapphire Preferred.

While Hyatt has a strong network, the card's points are primarily optimized for hotel redemptions, offering fewer options compared to more versatile rewards programs.

While points can be transferred to airline partners, the transfer ratio is much less favorable compared to some other rewards programs.

What Customers Think?

Satisfied borrowers report that the World of Hyatt card almost always gives them late checkouts and free room upgrades. This is a great way to extend your vacation. Some users also say they are able to get free spa services for themselves and a guest. Users also love that resort fees are waived and that it’s pretty easy to get into the higher elite status levels.

Negative reviews say that the annual fee is too high and can be hard to earn back if you have a year of not traveling often. Hyatt hotels are also not found worldwide, so you might always be able to stay in a Hyatt hotel when you travel.

In Which Cases it’s Better to Skip?

It’s better to skip the World of Hyatt card if you don’t travel often or if you don’t stay in Hyatt hotels. If you have certain destinations you like to travel to each year, make sure you are checking them to see if they have Hyatt hotels.

If they don’t, the card might not be worth it. It’s also better to skip if you would rather have a card that doesn’t tie you down to one hotel chain.

How It Compared To Other Hotel Cards?

When compared to other hotel cards in the same level, such as the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card and the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card, several distinguishing features become evident.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Card stands out with benefits such as Marriott Bonvoy Silver Elite Status automatically each account anniversary year and an annual free night certificate, but its redemption is limited to properties with a redemption level of up to 35,000 points. Also, the Marriott Boundless offers a broader range of properties within the Marriott portfolio, providing diverse options for travelers.

The Hilton Honors Surpass Card distinguishes itself with a $200 Hilton Credit, providing up to $50 in statement credits per quarter for direct purchases with Hilton properties annually. While its annual fee is higher ($150), cardholders enjoy Hilton Honors Gold Status, offering benefits like a 5th night free on longer stays and an 80% Bonus on all Base Points.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
