Pros and Cons

Just like any other credit card, the Best Egg Credit Card has some advantages and disadvantages:

Pros
Cons
Hard Inquiry After Approval
No Rewards
Minimal Fees
No Sign Up Bonus
Adjustable Card Settings
No Introductory Rate
Zero Fraud Liability
No Balance Transfers
Add the Card to Your Mobile Wallet

One of the potential downsides of applying for a new credit card is that your credit score can be impacted if you’re not approved. However, with Best Egg, you’ll only have a hard inquiry on your credit file if you’re approved for a new card.

In addition to having no annual fee, balance transfer fees or foreign transaction fees, the Best Egg Visa has no overlimit fees.

So, if you slip over your credit limit, you won’t get charged an over limit fee. However, any additional purchases will be denied until you have paid down your balance.

Best Egg allows you to have control over your account and you can adjust your settings as and when you need them. This includes being able to add authorized users, and view detailed spending insights from the app or online banking platform.

This card provides $0 fraud liability, so you’ll only be responsible for the purchases that you’ve authorized. The card is also supported by the Verified by Visa anti fraud tools, so that online transactions are verified to have been authorized by you.

This card is device compatible, so you can have the flexibility to add your Best Egg card to your mobile wallet. This makes it easier to spend securely while you leave your card at home.

This card is designed to help you to build or rebuild credit, but it doesn’t offer any additional incentives. While there are some similar cards that offer at least some form of rewards, this card doesn’t have any.

Unlike many credit cards, there is no welcome bonus or incentive for new customers signing up for the Best Egg Visa credit card. Even a modest sign up bonus would make this card even more appealing.

This point follows on from the previous point, but there is no introductory rate for even a month or two after opening your account. If you’re planning a purchase, you won’t have any breathing space to clear the balance before the regular interest rate kicks in, you’ll start paying interest immediately.

If you’re carrying a balance on another credit card, you won’t be able to move this balance across to your Best Egg card, as balance transfers are not permitted.

Who Should Consider The Best Egg Card?

The Best Egg card is a good option if you are looking to build your credit profile. It reports your credit usage to all the major credit bureaus. Additionally, the card does not require a deposit and you won’t need to worry about an annual fee. While the card is basic on the features, it allows you to concentrate on getting your finances under control and improve your credit.

This card is also a nice option if you have a tendency to slip into overdraft. In addition to having no annual fee, there are no overdraft charges, so you won’t get hit with massive fees if you accidentally overspend. The only thing that will happen is that any subsequent transactions will be declined until you bring your balance back under your credit limit.

How To Maximize Card Benefits: Tips

This card isn’t packed with features, but there are some tips that can help you to get the most out of your new Best Egg card.

While the Best Egg Visa does have minimal fees, you can still get stung with charges if you make a cash advance. The current fee is 5% or $10 of the cash advance amount, whichever is greater.

This could quickly add up if you tend to make one or more cash advances each month.

When you’re building your credit, it is important that you keep a check on your credit score to see what progress you’re making.

It can also help to highlight effective credit building strategies that you’re employing.

Many cards charge a foreign transaction fee, which can be up to 3%. This can really add up when you’re traveling or on vacation.

However, the Best Egg visa does not have any foreign transaction fees. So, even if you have another card in your wallet, keep this card as your go-to travel card.

FAQs

This card is designed to help those who don’t have great credit, so providing you have at least fair credit, you should not have a great deal of difficulty getting approved.

The Best Egg Visa is not a good idea if you’re looking for a card that offers some form of rewards. The card does have some nice features, but there are no incentives for making purchases with your card.

The Best Egg card is a basic Visa card and as such it does not offer very many benefits, so you’ll not get free rental car insurance as a perk.

Credit Card Reviews Methodology

In order to determine the best possible credit cards, we look at things like fees, interest rates and rewards. We do this with companies that are associated with us as partners as well as other offerings. From there, we make a decision about what the best card is related to different categories and needs. We focus on interest rate cost & fees, especially the cost of carrying a balance, rewards – cards accumulate rewards in different currencies—points, miles, cash back—and their values vary widely usability – cards that accept a wide range of credit profiles and offer simple solutions for things like checking your credit score or contacting. We also consider customer reviews.

We look at cards related to good or excellent credit ratings that will then provide a range of different benefits and improvements for someone who has these scores. We also look at low fees when it comes to those who have lower credit scores.
